The tie-breaker was broken. ;)

He met Kelly. Technically, he spoke to him twice, but there is photo evidence.

The Drifter is the new movie Travis and Rob made. I enjoyed it even though I've never actually seen a surf movie before and didn't quite get it immensely.

Good soundtrack, too. I had to laugh during the credits, as one of the songs was by Tegan and Sara and half of my f-list has been going on about this group. I have no clue who they are, though. Must look into this.

The wind was annoying. J and I thought we were back in Wyoming. TRUE STORY. The waves were pretty crappy, but CJ won the short-board. Shocker It cooled off enough that I was wishing I had either A. worn jeans or B. brought a blanket.

Because I'm a HUGE dork, I took my copy of Surf's Up, just in case Kelly and Rob were signing autographs. I, of course, chickened out, so the brother got the DVD signed for me.

I'M TALLER THAN KELLY SLATER! o.O Okay, maybe we're even... but, still!

There was a silent auction - got a sweatshirt and tanktop for $15 - and I've got a post-beach headache. Of course, the wind is blowing outside, so it could be weather-related in general.. *le sigh*

Anyway, managed to write a bit on the way out, and sitting on the beach. And sitting at the bar, waiting. Spent some of this morning rewriting/padding. Unfortunately, the prompts are from a now-dead comm ([info]10_letters), but I still wanted to write them.

The question is: Post each one seperately, or at once? They sort of tell a story - letters from Jeb to Adora, while he's off being a soldier. Thoughts on this, Tin Man f-list?

More later.... as I need to run over to Target and get some groceries before the game. GO CHARGERS!

*loves on giant mug*
*sips*

So... I'm wearing shorts. *cue Kevin McCallister* And a sweatshirt, because I just am cold... It's always the upper that's cold, though. At Disney, I was always in shorts and a fleece.

Anyway: SHORTS

Also, I'm mad at myself - not Steve - for yesterday's [info]characteraday post. I was minding my own business, surfing for a photo (we've had a lot of guys in a row) of a girl with roses. And then there was this fancy wedding dress and I'm not sure what the photo had to do with roses and I had the idea for the question of the day.

Okay, I had the answer for the question of the day. But, as I was filling out the post, Steve tweaked it to someone else. But even I thought that would be mean, so I tweaked it a little more.

Long story short: Steve has issues.

I'd picked the Title-a-Week post before the photo, so the irony of the plotbunny was FAR from lost, and managed to plot a little more. Even more creepy!fitting was that the second I started to write the first sentence of the drabble!scene, shuffle kicked to a rather fitting song and reworked the scene I had planned.

Longer story short: 1449 words later and I can't get Steve to shut up. O.o

Anyway, J managed to work a deal and is leaving early, so we can get out to the beach earlier than planned. Not sure when we'll be home, of course, as the movie doesn't start until 6ish or later. But Rob posted to his Facebook last night that he was in Florida, so J is fangirling like crazy.

My brother is suck a dork! :D

I hope he gets the chance to meet Kelly and Rob, even though I know that's just one more thing he won't shut up about.... I'm tempted to take my copy of Surf's Up along, just in case they're signing stuff...

CHUKANACHAKA!

Anyway... so that's today's random. :)

Any photo requests?

Today, I'm back in Ohio. All four pages of Ohio. But, I'm geting the hang of this updating without really updating... Pretty much just focusing on the insets.

In other news: I really want to learn how to play the guitar. Or, I just want to have a pretty guitar to look at. Would probably end up sitting in the corner, like the brother's longboard. But, I digress.

I swear the A/C is on at work. Seriously - there's a chill outside and I have to put on a sweatshirt ONCE I get inside. WTF? o.O

Supposedly, we're going to Cocoa Beach tomorrow to see Kelly and Rob and CJ and Damo and I'm excited and contemplating wearing SHORTS. It's wild! %]

I love my icons, because each one has a purpose, just when I need it. But I'm in the mood for new ones. But I'm not in the mood to go looking. I found some great icon sites, but nothing's tagged and I don't feel like sifting through all the Twilight posts to see what else might be there. I'm lazy like that.

I have to beta a CSI:NY fic, because I keep forgetting about it. And I need to do some spot-beta work for [info]luxuria_oceanus. And update the memories at [info]tinman_fic. And the masterlists at [info]characteraday. And figure out what to do with the layout at [info]alphabetdrabble.

I've also now got THREE songs for the Team Special Hell fanmix (aka [info]tsh_unite), thanks to Richard Marx. Yes, TSH is still specifically Mal/River, but the songs fit the whole concept. So that makes me HAPPY.

I miss the Big Damn Prompt Table at [info]tm_challenge. It got me through NaNo last year. And writing, in general. Maybe I can round out the rest of the [info]tm_ficfest list. Either way, I'm looking forward to the weekend, because work is REALLY cutting into my attention span.

In other-other news: It's payday! \O/

The empire strikes back

In recent weeks, we've taken huge steps towards blocking spam accounts on LiveJournal. In fact, we've suspended as many as 30,000 accounts in a single day! We've implemented several pre-emptive measures to prevent the creation of spam accounts, and we've honed our detection of suspicious content. Spam bots are a crafty lot, so we'll continue to refine our tactics and keep up the good fight to keep you safe from spam attacks on LiveJournal.

RSS feeds again

If you're addicted to [info]xkcd_rss, [info]icanhaschzbrgr, or other syndicated feeds, we're pleased to report that we've resolved the update error that was mucking up your RSS feeds. While content was being pulled correctly, it wasn't being posted to the feeds themselves. Late last week, we finally nailed down what we hope was the root problem, so content should post properly. We thank you for your patience.

that never get a proper soundtrack.

Case in point: The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band

movie fangirlery AHOY! )

Long story short TOO LATE!: I LOVE THIS MOVIE

Except for that pesky no soundtrack-thing. Why? Well, I'm at work - naturally - and I just got the North Dakota page. What's stuck in my head? Dakota. The "theme" for the big move to Rapid City. And I can't get it out of my head, because I don't have it to listen to. I can't hunt YouTube in case there's a clip, because I'm at work. I can't pull out the VHS OR the DVD, because I'm at work.

So, I have Dakota stuck on repeat. JOY.

From memory:
*starts with Detroit, from The Happiest Millionaire - aka the first of the three book-to-movie movies and the last film Walt personally oversaw before his death and my ABSOLUTE favorite movie EVER and a whole other fangirlery post*
*Gibbs-slaps self*
*can't remember how it starts...* O.o
*gives you the chorus*

Dakota, oh Dakota... Where a man stands tall
Dakota, oh Dakota... Where there's land for all

Anyway... welcome to my world, y'all... So, f-list: How's that for a random post!? :)

It is annoying me GREATLY. But, I digress.

* As of show taping yesterday, the Colbert Nation had raised $40,000. *high fives Nation*
* Michael Buble sang the Top Ten last night on Letterman and it was BRILLIANT. I'll search for the video later and link. Should have looked when I was still at home. Whatever. BRILLIANT!
* NCIS was WIN, because of Abby's obsession with the boat, the Mike and Tony snark at the door and Mark Harmon and Robert Patrick in the same scene. TWICE! Even if RP's hair was scaring me a little. I feel like I missed an episode, though, because I didn't recognize the one guy. And I don't remember the bit about Mike's son.
* I must not have set the notifications for [info]classic_disneys, because I missed voting. I wasn't expecting to place ANYWHERE, mind you. But I'm trying to branch out the creativity, etc.
* I finished my table for [info]gilmore20in20, but as it's only three days in, and not due until the 20th, I don't want to over-achieve more and post so early
* I saved a spamable squee last night for something, and can't remember what it was. But it was something I meant to mention a few days ago. I guess I should have spammed...
* Donny Osmond is still on Dancing with the Stars. Almost makes me kinda want to start watching the show. But I won't. Still: GO DONNY!! \O/
* I found last night, after watching three or four episodes of SVU, that I actually liked it. This disturbs me, though, because I have no frame of reference past FRED!! and DANN!!
* Day Three of NaNo followed Day Two - go figure - with nothing being written. Well, I did type one sentence. And I pondered whether or not to rewrite the first 1000ish words. But, do I just count the rewrite as what I wrote, or only count the new words? I got bored with thinking about it and decided to put laundry away. If I could just start getting the words out, I'd be golden. *sigh*

Freelance life can be tough. Long gaps between commissions. Accounts departments who just can't seem to find your invoice. Not to mention the ever-present need to get your work seen by the people who count.

Jonny Wan, a freelance illustrator from Sheffield, knows all about that. A graduate of the Manchester School of Art, he's constantly striving to ensure his unique illustrative style (think abstracted facial expressions, patterns, symmetry and hand-drawn lettering) snags the attention of creative directors everywhere – and he does so via Business Cards and Postcards from MOO.

Soon as I see a link for more info, I'll pass it on!

In other news... I found myself up until 2am. This is BAD. I'd leave for work, but I'm not sure I want to risk my system settling into the time change and then I'm screwing myself over. But, this is my 'natural' time, so it might work out... that's a lie: Mountain is my 'natural' time

I've got most of my icons done for [info]gilmore20in20 - I don't care for GIMP, however... I have Print Shop Plus on the laptop; and Photoshop at work. Oh well... I'll live.

NaNo count Day 2: ZERO

Granted, I made no effort to even try... I did rework the scene I wrote on Saturday, though, so that it doesn't jump from OMG!angst to *whistles and winks*

So there's that.
